Surfer’s Experience with Autism Leads Him to Start a Unique Summer Camp

Pro surfer Izzy Paskowitz first paddled out into the waves when he was just six years old, with his father. From that moment on, he was hooked.

He eventually went pro, met his wife, and started a beautiful family with her.

But then Izzy’s younger son, Isaiah stopped talking. The little boy was diagnosed with autism at age three.

One day, Isaiah was having a meltdown at the beach, and Izzy decided to take him out on his board. The effect was immediate. Isaiah calmed down once he was out on the waves, and that was just the beginning of the Paskowitzs’ organization, Surfers Healing — a nonprofit surf camp for children with autism.

All of the Surfers Healing events are totally free of charge, and professional surfers take kids with autism out onto the waves.

The effect is awesome and is making a difference in the lives of kids and their parents.
