Playing With Toys: Learning How To Play With Others

Marcus has autism, and his grandmother has always felt blessed by his presence — but she’s noticed he wants to play by himself, rather than with her or with others. Because of this (and an increasing frustration at the lack of communication between Marcus and his family), Marcus has started working with a speech language pathologist. It has been beneficial to the whole family, as they all are learning how to interact and communicate with him.

Watch as Marcus and his family use the “Imitate and Expand” strategy. As soon as language is simplified, Marcus is able to communicate better and join in the playing!
