Santa Reassures this Boy on the Spectrum: He’s not Naughty, He’s Special

Every autism family knows the struggle for acceptance for their child with autism can be a painful and precarious one.

What might look like naughty behavior to some is often just a kid with autism being themselves. Many people don’t understand how real autism is or how it can so profoundly shape our relationships.

Fortunately, Santa is among those who do understand.

When Landon, a boy on the spectrum, went to see Santa, he told the jolly old elf that he has autism. Santa’s response might just move you to tears.

Effective communication is essential to social development and interaction with others. But a child on the spectrum may have trouble forming basic sounds and words, or developing a working vocabulary. Speech therapy can address a wide range of the types of communication problems children with autism experience.
