QUIZ: Does Your Baby Have Autism?A. Stout
While autism, at this point in time, can only be diagnosed as early as 18 months, symptoms can actually be detected much earlier than that—as early as six months. Early diagnosis means early intervention, and early intervention means your child has the best possible chance of obtaining the skills they need to live their life on the spectrum.
For that reason, it’s good to be cognizant of autism symptoms, even in your child’s infancy, and to let your doctor know if you see any signs or have any concerns.
We’ve put this quiz together for you so that you can get a better idea of whether or not autism is a concern for your child. That being said, we give it to you with some very strong disclaimers…
This quiz is not a formal, diagnostic tool.
It is not a dependable way for you to determine whether or not your child has autism. It will just take you through the main symptoms infants with autism tend to present and make a guess based on how you answer.
Regardless of your result, always consult your child’s doctor if you have any concerns.
We do not know your child, and even if we did, we are not licensed to make any diagnoses or medical decisions. ALWAYS talk to your child’s doctor with any questions you have.
Consider your child’s age and whether or not they’re hitting the typical milestones.
Age is a huge factor in a number of these questions; symptoms are often gauged by typical milestones and whether or not they are being met. You can’t expect a two-week-old baby to be up and rolling around their crib; that’d just be silly. This quiz assumes your child is no younger than 12 months old, but we recommend you avoid taking this quiz altogether unless your child is at the very least six months old.
After you finish, share your results! Parents of kids who have already been diagnosed, was this quiz accurate? Let us know in the comments!
