A Cheerleader with Down Syndrome was Being Bullied… But Awesome People Came to the Rescue!

When Desiree Andrews, a cheerleader with Down syndrome at Lincoln Middle School in Kenosha, Wisconsin, was getting bullied during a game, the basketball players took action.

Scooter Terrien, Chase Vazquez, and Miles Rodriguez walked off the court in the middle of the game to defend her and tell the bully to stop.

“It’s not fair when other people get treated wrong, because we’re all the same,” Scott said afterwards. “We’re all created the same, God made us the same way.”

Desiree’s reaction to all of this? “It was sweet, kind, awesome, amazing.”

The team of 8th graders played their last game in the stadium this year, as next year they’ll move on to the high school. But their middle school stadium has been dubbed “D’s House” after the magnetic young lady.
