Autism Now: The Increase Of Autism In the U.S.

News correspondent Robert MacNeil, gets his hands back into the reporting world after two decades, to explore the growing number of children diagnosed with autism in the U.S. In this special PBS News Hour series on autism, MacNeil will discuss how each type of autism can be different. Even though 1 in 110 children are diagnosed with autism today, they all have dramatic differences.

Watch as MacNeil meets three children diagnosed with autism but who are at different parts of the autism spectrum. Sally Rogers, Professor of Psychiatry of Behavioral Sciences at the Mind Institute of Sacramento explains how all of these children have common threads but none of them interact, converse, or use materials as a typical child their age would.
