Autism Now: Robert MacNeil’s Grandson, Nick

In a special series on autism, PBS News Hour brings back news correspondent Robert MacNeil for the first time in over a decade. In this series, MacNeil will give us a comprehensive look of the impact and prevalence of autism today. For over two decades parents have felt the need to raise awareness and funding for autism, but today researchers believe there is no simple genetic cause. From multiple genetic pathways, to toxic materials in the environment, there is no definite reasoning to what causes autism.

Autism touches MacNeil very closely, as his six-year-old grandson Nick has been diagnosed with this growing condition. Watch as he takes us into the life of Nick and how connecting with Nick has never been as easy as connecting with his other grandchildren. Here’s a look into autism!
