Autism And The Help Of A Communication Device

Matthew is a happy child with a sense of humor and a love for being visually stimulated. He has autism and is non-verbal. However, since working with his speech pathologist Sarah, Matthew has improved his communication skills by using PECS (Picture Exchange Communication System).

It’s the first time in Matthew’s life where he has been able to communicate across a variety of contexts that work for him! It’s important to keep in mind, though, that as his vocabulary grows, Matthew has to keep being challenged. This has led to an assisted technology device.

Watch the video to learn how this device has given Matthew a voice — despite him being non-verbal!
